August 31, 2017 Ramsley Fields Our key goal for today was to drive a bit more than 400 km to our accommodation in Derbyshire in preparation for the wedding tomorrow. Once there we had sone other things to do but getting there as soon as we could was our priority. Categories 2017 England & The Netherlands/2017 Europe/Two of us
August 30, 2017 Portwenn This was our day to explore Portwenn (actually Port Isaac), the location of the Doc Martin television series more thoroughly. We also planned to take a side trip to Land’s End to complete the End-to-End journey we had started at John O’Groats a bit more than a week ago. Categories 2017 Europe/Two of us
August 29, 2017 Sisterhood Highlight for this morning was to be the Kinnane sisters meeting for brunch in London. Beyond that we were headed for Doc Martin territory, Port Isaac (aka Port Wenn) in Cornwall. That required driving about 380 km so we needed to be on the road as soon as we could manage. August 28, 2017 London Our priority today was to make it to our accommodation in London in preparation for the clan gathering tomorrow morning. Until we heard it on the news last week we had no idea that today was a Bank Holiday. That probably worked for us in negotiating the traffic into London and left us with some time to spare. August 27, 2017 York Our destination for today was York. I’d selected it as a potentially interesting place close to halfway between Glasgow and London, where we need to be for the Kinnane sisters meetup on Tuesday morning. I also wanted to see some of Hadrian’s wall. Categories 2017 Europe/Two of us
August 26, 2017 Stirling and Glasgow Our core goal for today was simple – drive to Glasgow, check in and be ready to meet up with Charles, Cathy, Cairsty and family in the early evening. Glasgow is less than an hour of driving from Stirling so there would be time for sightseeing at one end or both, depending on what we found. Categories 2017 Europe/Two of us
August 25, 2017 Stirling Forrest Gump was right. You never know what you are going to get. Our plan for today was simple – drive toward Stirling (about 160 km or 2.5 hours away), visit a farm recommended by Glen Postle along the way, and check into our accommodation which was also recommended by Glen. We did that and an extra 140 km or... Categories 2017 Europe/Two of us
August 24, 2017 Eigg Our wonderful record with the weather continued today. The forecast was for rain, it had rained overnight, and was overcast when we woke. It is overcast now and there have been clouds all day but our trip to Eigg was not rain affected. Categories 2017 Europe/Two of us
August 23, 2017 Loch Shiel It rained overnight and was still raining when we woke this morning. That was no surprise since it had been forecast to rain all day but we did wonder how it would affect our plan to cruise Loch Shiel. We were booked, though not paid, and had no alternatives in mind so it was going to happen regardless. Categories 2017 Europe/Two of us
August 22, 2017 Fort William The weather forecast for today predicted rain and it delivered overnight and through the day. We were back on the road again so not often at risk of getting wet, but the covering of low clouds and occasional showers did obscure the views at time. Despite that we managed another interesting day. Projected driving time was a bit less than... Categories 2017 Europe/Two of us
