One thousand reasons to smile
Well Canada really pulled out the stops today to try to impress me – and it succeeded! The day dawned bright and sunny (though cool), after the rain of yesterday. We had an early stop at a beautiful little village called Ivy Lea where we caught a cruise boat to explore a section of the St Lawrence River and the 1000 island region. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous and we passed hundreds of islands of various sizes. Almost all of them had some form of residence, ranging from the almost modest to the extremely grand. The most elaborate was a castle built by the owner of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. His chef created Thousand Island dressing!
This afternoon we arrived in Montreal and I have had fun practising my French. Wonderful!
